About Us

Dr. Binkerd is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Binkerd began his college education at the University of Montevallo at the age of eleven then later graduated from Shelby County High School, class of 1984.

After completing his undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama- Birmingham, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, he was accepted as a Rural Medical Scholar and received a Masters of Health from The University of Alabama.  He continued his medical education and graduated from UAB School of Medicine.  Dr. Binkerd continued his training and completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of South Alabama, where he was the inaugural Pediatric Surgery Resident of the year and appointed the Administrative Chief Resident in his final year.

Dr. Binkerd is the Chief of Surgery at Saint Vincent's Chilton and the Medical Director of Ascension St Vincent's Chilton Wound Center.
